Long Lake Park is the door to a paradise of camping
& outdoor experience...
Long Lake, which is only one of at least 87 Long Lakes in Minnesota, is located
in Clearwater County only 5 miles west of Itasca State Park on
Highway 200 making it the closest campground to Itasca State Park which is
located on a lake. In addition to available camping, other outdoor
adventure opportunities can be found here.
A friendly, easy-going atmosphere is
what you will enjoy while visiting Long Lake Park & Campground.
Cheerful, helpful attendants will assist you in the camp store or share
fishing tidbits with you over morning coffee.
Long Lake Park has much to offer, whether you visit for a day, evening or
week — 2 playgrounds, volleyball
courts, game room, sandy swimming beach, fishing pier are just a few of the
things you’ll find. There is a 10 mph boat speed limit on the lake, which
keeps it quiet and safe for fishermen and makes a perfect place to watch a
beautiful evening sunset while canoeing among the calling loons.
Need
a place for your youth or church group to camp, or maybe you just want to
get the whole family together for a camping weekend - check out our group sites
complete with their own picnic shelters.
For those who want to enjoy a nature hike, there is a mile of walking
trails winding through the woods of the 53-acre park. Visit "The
Survivor" tree along the trail where you can rest on its trunk
for that perfect "Kodak moment" picture. Rather go biking?
There are endless miles of forest trails leading out of the campground
waiting for you to explore. Want something a little less challenging?
Itasca State Park, just down the road, offers paved bike trails.

Long Lake is a clear,
spring fed lake that is 80’ at its maximum depth. It's said that anglers
can actually watch fish bite because the water is so clear. Rainbow trout
fishing provides a challenge for even the experienced fisherman. Minnesota
DNR manages the lake as a "two-story" trout lake, stocking the
lake each year with over 14,000 rainbow trout fingerlings. That means that
the trout live in the deeper, cooler depths and other fish live in the
shallower, warmer waters. Long Lake is not a designated trout lake. A
Minnesota trout stamp is required to fish it, however a trout stamp is not
needed if you catch & release. You can also find large northern pike,
large-mouth bass, sunfish and crappies. Fishing boats are available
to rent. A fishing license may be purchased at the camp store as well as
trout bait and night crawlers. A handicap accessible fishing pier provides
a great place for young and old alike to cast a line searching for those
trophy catches. Many nearby area lakes provide wonderful walleye
fishing.
